REVILLA HONORS RAMON MAGSAYSAY LAUREATE DR. MADRID

The Senate, on Tuesday, adopted Proposed Senate Resolution No. 173 filed by Sen. Ramon Bong Revilla, Jr. which honored Dr. Bernadette J. Madrid for being the lone Filipino and woman in the roster of 2022 Ramon Magsaysay Awardees, considered to be the Asian equivalent of the Nobel Prize.

“We live in very uncertain times brought about by the pandemic. Now more than ever, we need leaders – model citizens who can give us hope. And we, especially our youth, can emulate. Precisely, Dr. Madrid is worthy of the commendation”, said Revilla.

In his speech, the veteran lawmaker said that Dr. Madrid is recognized for her transformative work in integrating child protection in the health infrastructure in the country.

Dr. Madrid is an alumna of the University of the Philippines College of Medicine. She is a clinician, educator, a researcher, and a social mobilizer who has been in the forefront in providing medical, legal, and psychosocial care to children and women who are victims of abuse.

“In recognizing Dr. Madrid, we are reminded, especially us public servants, to be steadfast, genuine and hopeful in our service to the people”, Sen. Revilla added.

REVILLA KINILALA SI DR. MADRID BILANG MAGSAYSAY AWARDEE

KINANDILI ng Senado ang Proposed Senate Resolution No. 173 na isinumite ni Sen. Ramon Bong Revilla Jr. na kumikilala sa parangal kay Dr. Bernadette J. Madrid bilang nag-iisang Pilipino at babae sa hanay ng 2022 Ramon Magsaysay Awardee na ikinukonsiderang katumbas ng Nobel Prize ng Asia.

“Matindi ang pinagdaanan natin sa panahon ng pandemya at ngayon higit sa lahat ay kailangan natin ng lider-model citizen na makapagbibigay sa atin ng pag-asa, si Dr. Madrid higit na karapat-dapat sa iginawad na papuri” saad ni Revilla.

Sinabi ni Revilla sa kaniyang talumpati na si Dr. Madrid ay kinikilala dahil sa kaniyang maayos na ginawa sa pagtaguyod sa proteksiyon ng mga bata hinggil sa umiiral na sistema ng kalusugan sa bansa.

Si Dr. Madrid ay isang alumna ng University of the Philippines College of Medicine. Siya rin ay clinician, educator, isang researcher, at social mobilizer na nanguna sa pagbibigay ng medical, legal, at psychosocial care sa mga bata at kababaihan na naging biktima ng pang-aabuso.

Idinagdag pa ni Revilla na sa pagkilala kay Dr. Madrid, ay nagbigay alaala sa atin, lalo na sa mga public servants na maging matatag at maging totoo sa pagbibigay ng serbisyo publiko sa mga tao.
